Bunnings Visit
On Thursday 2nd May and Friday 3rd May, Bunnings Marion came and visited to help with the replanting of our school garden in readiness for Winter.
Last year, we were lucky enough to connect with Bunnings at the start of Term 3 where our Junior Primary students planted out the gardens ahead of Spring.
This time around, all of our Primary students (Years 3-6) had the opportunity to do the planting and learn a little more about caring for a garden, planting and watering and veggie, herb and fruit production.
The garden has taken an instant uplift and looks amazing with a wide range of veggies, herbs and fruit, including:
Veggies, Herbs and Fruit in our school garden | |||
---|---|---|---|
Cauliflower | Broccoli | Beetroot | Carrots |
Purple carrots | Iceberg and cos lettuce | Brown onions | Pak Choi |
Veggie Wok Combo | Silverbeet | A lemon tree | A mandarin tree |
Celery | Kale | Royal burgundy beans | Strawberries |
Chives | Oregano | Basil | Mint |
Parsley | Thyme |
We are looking forward to caring for the garden, watching our plants grow and our first round of production later in the term. Many classes are thinking about how they can make valuable cross-curriculum links and take on care for the garden, food production and cooking as some examples.
Finally, we would all like to say a big thank you to the team at Bunnings Marion for all of their kind donations, time and support. Renee, Maddi and Beck were wonderful with the kids and it was a great way to kickstart the term and our garden looks amazing. Be sure to take a look when you are in and around the school for pick-up and drop-off.
