F-4 Community News

The F-4 Community has experienced a lot of valuable learning this Term. We are looking forward to discussing your child's academic progress and engagement during the upcoming Subject Teacher Conversations. The process for booking these interviews has changed slightly with the transition to straight year-level cohorts. Instead of meeting with different teachers from Literacy and Maths under CORE, you will only need to book under your child's TA in CORE. This change will make it easier for you to understand your child's progress across all subjects. If you wish to schedule a double appointment for a more detailed discussion of your child's progress, you have the opportunity to do so until bookings are full. Your participation in the F-4 Community is always appreciated, and we aim to build a strong partnership between home and school.

This week, the Year 3/4 students have been enjoying the annual swimming program at Echuca War Memorial Aquatic Centre, where they have been honing their skills.

The Year 1/2 students recently had a lesson in the church with Fr Uday to learn about the Paschal Candle, asking questions and exploring important symbols used during Easter.

The Foundation students have been making progress in their letter-sound knowledge, having learned 24 letter-sound combinations and practising their segmenting and blending skills using a systematic synthetic phonics approach.

Looking ahead to Week 5, we are excited for our students to attend the first F-6 disco. Please refer to Operoo and purchase tickets via Trybooking.

Foundation

Last week the Foundation students learned about the significance of Anzac Day and why we celebrate it each year. They worked together to create a beautiful wreath made with red poppies and hand shaped leaves.

FMK very kindly gifted their wreath to Dustin's Dad who is a soldier in the Army.

Religious Education

We have begun this term by learning how we can live more like Jesus. The Foundation students have been singing the Pevan and Sarah song about being kind. We have also talked about how we can show kindness and we decorated kindness words.

This term the Foundation students have continued reading at home and applying the skills they have been learning from the classroom. Congratulations to all the students who have worked hard to receive their 25 and 50 nights of reading certificate!! What an achievement!

Keep working hard to climb up the Nights of Reading ladder!

Years 1 and 2

Welcome back to the Year 1/2 area for Term 2.

We have enjoyed a busy start to our learning.

We loved the opportunity to visit the church to learn about the Paschal Candle with Fr Uday.

We have been learning about Anzac Day, writing about some of the symbols used and baking some delicious Anzac biscuits.

During Inquiry lessons we are exploring how living things grow and change. We made some cute looking ducklings and sequenced the life cycle of a duck.

In the coming weeks, during TRP students will be making a gratitude jar. If you could please send in a jar for your child to use that would be greatly appreciated.

Mrs Baker has been excited to see many Year 1/2 students with their library bags on library day. Don't forget to bring yours on the day your class has library!

It has been wonderful to see lots of students practice reading nightly with either take home readers, online readers, or both!

On Thursday 9 May we invite our families to attend our Mother's Day Mass at 9.15am. We will then be running activities in our classrooms for our Mums, Nans, Grandmas and special visitors to take part in. We would love to see as many visitors that can make it join us.

Don't forget our Disco is being held on Tuesday 14 May - come dressed in your fluoro gear or party gear ready for a night of fun and dancing!
