Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families
We have enjoyed a busy and engaging fortnight around the school with so many highlights and acknowledgements to share.
Mother's Day
Our Mother's Day afternoon will take place in the last session today and I thank all the staff for their preparations in making this a memorable afternoon for our visitors. It is a valuable opportunity for our students to formally share their appreciation towards their mums and other significant women in their lives.
Also thank you to our Friends of Maramba (FOM) team who organised a delightful Mother's Day stall for our students. It is always a wonderful event and I never cease to be touched by the joy children feel from choosing a ‘special’ gift. In today’s cashless society there are few opportunities for children to buy something with money so a great experience nonetheless. I am sure this Sunday, the joy of giving will be matched by the joy of seeing the smiles on their mothers' or special someone's faces. The true essence of Mother's Day is not in the gifts themselves, but in the precious moments shared between loved ones, a testament to the enduring power of a mother's love.
Cross Country
Congratulations to all our students who participated in the school Cross Country last Wednesday. Thank you to Mr Watling and Mr Galloway for their organisation and leadership. Big thanks to all the parents and carers who assisted and supported on the day as well. It was great to see all students cheering and encouraging their classmates and house team. The sportsmanship qualities displayed on the day was outstanding. We must acknowledge everyone’s efforts on the day and all students for competing as best as they could. Congratulations to the Biik House for winning the overall House Championship.
Working Bee
We had a fantastic turnout at our Working Bee on Sunday! The weather was perfect – not too hot or too cold. I would like to extend my gratitude to all those who attended and offered their assistance. Special mention goes to Raelene Anderson who organised the event, the snacks and the sausage sizzle. She also made sure that everyone had a job to do and were happy.
We had a very ambitious list of tasks and thanks to the hard work of the volunteers most of our jobs were completed. I could not believe how hard everyone worked. Three full skips indicates how much was achieved on the day!
Three cheers for all the families who helped out:

Myuna Farm Excursion
Our Year 3 students enjoyed a sustainability focused excursion to Myuna Farm on Monday. Thank you to Mr Tomazos for organising and to our lovely parent helpers who assisted on the day, Ms Gill and Ms Pearce. I know that the visit to the nursery to pat all the baby animals was certainly a highlight amongst students. The Year 4 students are looking forward to their visit on Monday!

Student Supervision and Duty of Care
A friendly reminder about our school times and student supervision outside of these hours. Our day starts at 8:45am and finishes at 3:15pm which means Maramba Primary School’s grounds are supervised by school staff from 8:35am until 3:25pm. Outside of these hours, school staff are not available to supervise students as they often have meetings. Anyone before and after these times should go to Out of School Hours Care (OSHC). If your child needs to be dropped off at school early which is earlier than 8:35am, please use our OSHC service. Thank you to parents and students who adhere to these guidelines. Families are encouraged to contact our school for more information about the before and after school care facilities available to our school community.
Foundation 2025
We have a Foundation information session planned for Wednesday, 22nd May from 5:00pm to 5:30pm. Please call or email the school office if you are interested in attending. If you know of any friends who are still to contact our school, please encourage them to do so asap as we will soon be confirming enrolments into Foundation 2025. Any new families interested in a school tour are also encourged to book one through contacting the school office.
Education Week
Please join us next week as we host our first Open Morning of the school year to celebrate Education Week. I encourage our families to come down and visit their child's classroom between 9:30 -11:00am on Wednesday, 15th May.
Finally, I wish all the amazing mums a wonderful Mother's Day, a special day to highlight the central roles you play in our lives. We also celebrate all the other women, such as grandmothers, stepmothers, aunts, cousins, teachers and special friends who have helped to shape and form us into the person we are today!
Kind regards,
Moniba Ehsan
