Class Team 

Dear MRC Community,

Welcome back to a very chilly Term 2 and a busy first few weeks. The term has started smoothly with students settling into their work.

Nottingham Building

The much-awaited Nottingham building is now fully operational, and the Year 10 students, who will predominantly work out of that space, are very excited about the new facilities. The 300+ seat theatrette has already hosted a variety of events such as the Year 7 Information Night, staff briefings, and assemblies. The building not only has large classroom spaces but also a dedicated art/performing arts space, a fully equipped computer lab with laptops, and an amazing science lab. These facilities will be well-utilized for many years to come.

Year 10 Work Experience

The first week of the term was an opportunity for our Year 10 students to embark on their work experience journey. Many of the Year 10 students were able to secure a work placement in a field that they may want to pursue in the future. The experience allows our students to gain an understanding of the commitment and skills that their field of work requires. These invaluable experiences are shared with staff and fellow students upon their return to school and provide an opportunity for students to begin thinking about what they may want to pursue in the future. The College Pathways team is available to discuss future pathways with our students and even assist students with creating a resume to gain part-time employment while they are finishing off their senior years of schooling.

Attitudes to School Survey 2024

Every year, we invite our students to complete a survey that captures their thoughts and feelings about a range of topics. This survey will commence the week beginning 6th May.

Anzac Day

In commemoration of Anzac Day, our school was represented at the Craigieburn service on Thursday, 25th April, by several of our Student Leaders and attended by some of our staff. Good to see the community spirit extending beyond the boundaries of the College.

Behaviour on Aitken Boulevard

It has been brought to the College's attention that dangerous behaviour has been occurring on Aitken Boulevard. Many students are climbing over or damaging the fencing over the medium strip and ignoring the designated signage and/or not following pedestrian paths. By doing this, students are placing themselves and others at enormous risk of severe injury/accident. Please remind your children to adhere to the measures put in place for their safety when crossing the roads. Thank you for your support in this matter.

Curriculum Day 8th May 2024

Next Wednesday, 8th May, has been designated as a pupil-free day for the purpose of staff attending a range of professional development sessions to enhance their learning in a range of curriculum areas. Please be advised that students are not required at school on this day.

Winter Uniform

Finally, a courtesy reminder that by now all of our students must be in full Winter uniform. Students must only wear their Sports uniform on the days where they have P.E. If you have any issues with the procurement of uniform or wellbeing concerns, please contact the College.
