From the second reading on Sunday, 1 John 5:1-6, the writer emphasizes the importance of believing in Jesus as the Son of God and the source of our victory over the world. By loving God and keeping His commandments, we demonstrate our faith and show that we are born of God. This faith is not burdensome but brings joy and assurance. Through Jesus, we conquer the world, for He is the one who came by water and blood, not by water alone, but by both water and blood. This passage affirms that the Holy Spirit testifies to the truth and that believing in Jesus Christ is the way to eternal life.

This truth is reinforced in Sunday's Gospel reading from John 20:19-31, where the disciples, gripped by fear after Jesus' crucifixion, found peace in His presence. Jesus appeared among them, showing His wounds as evidence of His resurrection and imparting the Holy Spirit. Even Thomas, initially doubtful, found faith when he encountered Jesus a week later. Jesus' compassionate response to Thomas's doubt reaffirmed the power of belief, revealing His resurrected glory and offering hope to those who believe without seeing.
