5/6 CLASSROOM

The student reviewed the video and photo taken of the  Liturgy for Palms Sunday and Holy Thursday, The Last Supper. They were then asked to reflect on this experience and write a truthful reflection on it. I was impressed with their honesty and will use their feedback. This week we will start to complete the unit of How Lent can Change our Lives and move onto a Unit called the Risen Christ; where we will Explore how Jesus’ followers responded to his death and resurrection.

In English the students in Gr 5 /6 have been busy writing either to Mr Ryan on things they think need to be improved around the school; the Gr 5's are writing a letter convincing him how they would be responsible Fire Carriers or a letter to an ESO or another teacher of their choice; letting them know why they are writing to them and what qualities they find inspiring in that person. The Students are also learning about World Earth Day and making a pledge on how they will be more responsible in their action to help the planet.

The students have been further exploring subtraction, whole and decimal numbers, and fractions in Maths through games, YouTube videos, whole-class discussions, and worksheets during small maths groups.

Last week, in Education Research Projects/ Cross Curriculum, the students looked through their presentation from Term 1, looking for any errors in punctuation or grammar. They then used a rubric to grade their thoughts on the last term topic. This week, we are starting a new Cross Curriculum topic called Understanding Business, with a focus on economics and financial matters/ management.

On Friday, Pippa, Sofia, Amelia, and Charlii relaunched the bins and spoke to the school community about the labels and the different types of waste—to help inform students about what rubbish goes in which bin—even the small classroom bins.

Well done to these girls for their impromptu performance. It was exciting, fun and entertaining, and I am sure the other students will remember what you said.
