Dear colleagues,

I wrote recently about the great work of our Early Career Teacher Team and the importance of the recruitment and retention of staff to the sustainability of the school system. The following communication from the NCEC highlights the efforts being made by governments to address the teacher shortage. Leaders and teachers in our schools should make people aware of this campaign and provide local support where they can.

As you will be aware the national campaign to encourage more Australians to Be that teacher campaign, a joint initiative of the Albanese Government and State and Territory Governments was launched this afternoon to attract people to become teachers (media release here).

We are very proud that 15 teachers from across Catholic Education were selected to be part of the campaign. You will find their details below.

The campaign website www.bethatteacher.gov.au is now live and campaign advertising will begin from Wednesday 1 November.

Please encourage the students in your school to consider the wonderful profession that is teaching young people.
