As mentioned in last week’s news, we are getting closer to the end of the year. Therefore please note that Chromebooks (Year 5 and 6 Students only) will be ceasing to take their Chromebooks home after FRIDAY 8th DECEMBER.

If you are planning on leaving on holiday before that date and will not be returning to school until the new year, please make sure you hand in your Chromebook and bag to your Grade 5 or 6 classroom teacher. This will ensure a smooth transition of all technological equipment for the beginning of the school year in 2024.

If you can please be sure to have the charger, chromebook and chromebook bag as clean as possible before you hand it in that would be greatly appreciated.

For students in Grades Prep to Year 4 you will have a chance at school to wipe down your keyboards and screens onsite at school.

If you have any further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me

Occupational Health and Safety

As the holidays approach, many of our students will likely engage in outdoor activities such as cycling, skateboarding, and other forms of wheeled recreation. While we encourage physical activity and fun during this time, it's crucial to prioritise safety on the roads and pathways. Here are some important guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday season:

Wear Protective Gear:

Always wear a helmet that fits properly to protect your head in case of a fall or collision.

Use knee and elbow pads to minimize the risk of injuries.

Obey Traffic Rules:

Follow traffic signals and road signs just as you would as a pedestrian or cyclist.

Use designated bike lanes when available, and ride in the same direction as traffic.

Be Visible: Wear bright and reflective clothing to enhance visibility, especially during low-light conditions.Use lights or reflective accessories on your bike or skateboard, particularly if riding in the evening.

Stay Alert:Keep your eyes and ears open to your surroundings. Avoid distractions such as phones or headphones.

Be aware of vehicles, pedestrians, and other cyclists or skateboarders around you.

Avoid busy roads and intersections when possible.

Communicate Clearly:

Use hand signals to indicate turns or stops when cycling.

Make eye contact with drivers to ensure they see you before crossing intersections.

Maintain Your Equipment:

Regularly check and maintain your bike or skateboard to ensure it is in good working condition.

By adhering to these safety guidelines, we can help ensure that our students enjoy a safe and injury-free holiday season. Please take the time to discuss these points with your children and emphasize the importance of responsible and safe outdoor activities.

Wishing everyone a joyful and safe holiday!

Physical Education and Health!

THEY ARE THE CHAMPIONS! A huge congratulations to Alannah A and Chase D  who play tennis in the same team for Gladstone Park Tennis Club and won their respective finals last weekend. What a magnificent effort from both of our young super tennis stars but especially for Chase who is playing his first season and is now the champion! What an effort! Well done!

Last weekend both Alessandra (Grade 2) and Quinn (Grade 3) competed with their Allstar cheerleading team at the AASCF Nationals competition at the Convention centre in the city. The competition is the biggest of the year with over 11,000 athletes competing over 5 days! AMAZING!

Both Alessandra and Quinn competed for the Southern Cross Cheer Team and they finished 4th in their division! What an absolutely amazing effort! What made this an even more inspiring victory is that this division consisted of 13 other teams from all over Australia!

Both the girls started cheerleading just over a year ago and throughout the year have taken home Gold, 2 Silver and a Bronze medal, so to walk away from Nationals beating all Victorian teams and achieving 4th in Australia was a great achievement! Well done!

The Year 6’s headed to Paul Sadler Swim school on Monday 4th December to participate in the Water Competency Certificate Training. All students are required to leave Primary School with a basic water competency level.

The Grade 6 students were magnificent in their effort and participated with confidence and enthusiasm and a willingness to learn about how to improve their water safety and skills.

As this is the last time you will hear from me for 2023, a big thank you to all the students and staff who have supported and participated in the PE program this year. Wishing you all a safe and Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

If your child has achieved any sporting accolades (e.g. Taekwondo Black Belt, Soccer Championship, Netball Best and Fairest Awards etc) please email them to me so that we can celebrate them as a community!
