Year 6 Spotlight

A Final Reflection – 7 Years of Schooling

 Camp

My highlight in the 7 years of school was definitely the Grade 6 camp. It was really fun! We did activities where I got to hang out with my friends.

~ Jack, 6A

ART FOR ALL

Year 6s participated in hosting the ART FOR ALL gala night. We put in an application and Marjie then chose students to be a chef and/or a waiter. We then had to attend multiple meetings with Marjie to learn how to do the role.

We showed up at the staffroom dressed in a white shirt and black skirt or pants. During the night we had different tasks such as serving food to parents who showed up as guests, being security, and labelling the sold artwork. We then all had dinner together. We had an amazing experience and a really fun time.~ Asher & Haleli, 6C

Athletics

I never expected to go to regionals, but I’m proud and honoured that I made it that far. Representing this school was a privilege and I will never forget it. I want to say thank you to everyone who got me there.

~ Pierre, 6B

Interschool Sports

My highlight of Grade 6 was interschool sports. My friends and I chose netball as our sport. We spent many weeks training until we got to the Gala Day. On the day we practised until it was our turn. We played game after game until we made it to the Grand Final. Our hearts were pounding as soon as we stepped foot on the court. Soon we had lost, but that’s ok as we only lost by 5. We were still happy, and I will always remember this day forever.

~ Sasha, 6A

This school has been great. I have loved my 7 years at FPS. Interschool sport basketball is my favourite memory from Grade 6. We made it to the finals, coming in as ‘Underdogs’. We won the finals! Best day ever!

Year 6 Concert – ‘Porridge’

One of my favourite parts of my last year in primary school, has been rehearsing for our Grade 5/6 play, Porridge. I’ve always loved acting and this year has been the first year of my life I’ve been able to be a main character in a real school production. The process of auditioning and getting the role I wanted, Junior Bear, was so satisfying. Being able to practise and have fun with all the people in the production makes me so excited for the night I perform.

 Museum/IMAX

In the middle of the school year, all the students in Grade 6 went to the IMAX Cinema and Museum. I thought the IMAX documentary was really fun because it showed the life of a crocodile. The actual museum was fun too. Having a real life skeleton of Triceratops Horridus was awesome.

I can’t believe that I have been at this school for 7 years, and only now I’m getting taller. All jokes aside, I’m both thrilled and sad to be leaving. I have made so many friends and I will miss them, but I’m glad to have more chances to make new friends. On behalf of everyone in Year 6, bye Fairfield.
