French News

Bonjour Parents and Students!

In the final weeks of this fabulous 2023, all students from grade prep - grade 6 enjoyed learning about French Christmas words and exploring traditional/modern ways of celebrating Christmas in France. They engaged in activities such as wishing each other “joyeux noel” and doing Christmas related colouring and crafts.

Besides Christmas activities, prep students learned about shapes and revisited classroom instructions in French. Grade 1 students had a look at some most iconic French food/cuisine and wrote sentences about which dish they would like to try the most and why.

Grade 2 students learned the story The greatest treasure in French. They compared key words from the story in French and in English, and discovered how similar their spellings are! They also drew characters from the story and created a short monologue for the character in French.

Our grade 3 students worked on a personal profile about their name, age, birthday, national/cultural background, personality and hobbies all in French!

Grade 4 students explored how to identify the gender of a French noun. They learned about 5 masculine noun endings and 4 feminine noun endings, and they were really excited to learn more.

Grade 5 students wrote about their holiday plans using the near future tense they’ve learned earlier this term. By writing sentences starting with “Je vais (I am going to)”, they consolidated their knowledge of the near future tense.

We farewell our grade 6 students by giving them time to think about what they have learned so far in French this year. They worked in pairs and came up with a list of all the topics they remember. We are very glad to see how much they’ve grown.
