Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

Most of us will have noted the decorations beginning to appear in the supermarkets, you’ll know it, lots of red and green. Today is the 21st of November, so in one month the school year will be finished and the rush will really be on!

ADVENT will begin this coming Sunday. The preparation for the coming of Christ into the world on December 25th. But will the world be ready?

As we know babies come when they are ready. They give no consideration as to whether the rest of us are ready.

Ideally we would like every baby born into a home / community /world of PEACE, LOVE and JOY.

Wars in Gaza, Ukraine, Myanmar, South Sudan etc would indicate that the world is NOT ready for the coming of any babies.

 And yet, they DO come.

Often in dangerous circumstances. But they still come whether we are ready or not. Babies are a gift of love. They can bring such joy and love, sometimes the peace can be harder to find, but to peer into the bassinet at the sleeping infant…

This is how God comes into the world, as a baby. I pray as Christmas approaches that the coming of Christ will bring love into all of our homes, into our Colac community, to Australia and to all people across the world

FOUNDATION 2024 BBQ Last Thursday evening our school hosted next year’s Foundation students and their families at a BBQ tea and Information evening. The night was a great success and I am very grateful to these families who were able to come along and to our staff who prepared their ‘specialty salad’, cooked barbecues, set up, cleaned up and enjoyed meeting our new students and their families.

GRADUATION At the other end of the school journey our Grade 6 class is preparing to Graduate from primary school and continue their educational journeys in secondary school in 2024.

Parents and carers should please note that the Graduation Ceremony will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday, December 14th at the Jubilee Centre at Trinity College.

Our Transition Day'' for all students is on Tuesday, December 12th. Year 6 students will be spending the day at their chosen secondary school, next year’s Foundation class will be with us from 11:30am until 1:00pm and all other students will spend this same hour and a half with their 2024 class and teacher.

MAKING A SCENE AT CHRISTMAS We are very pleased to be able to take the children to a display of Christmas Cribs from around the world that is being brought to Colac and will be on display in the Uniting Church Hall from Monday, November 27th until Sunday December 3rd. This presentation has been brought to Colac previously and this year has been expanded. Well worth a visit for the whole family as we begin to prepare ourselves for Christmas!

BEGINNING 2024 Some early notice, 2024 will begin for our teachers on Monday January 29th with training and preparation, however classes will not resume for the children until Wednesday, January 31st. Our staff will be working with the highly regarded Mathematics educator Michael Ymer on Tuesday January 30th. This is a fantastic opportunity for our staff and we are fortunate to have booked this much sought after presenter.

Please note Wednesday the 31st will be the first day for our new Foundation students as well. Foundation students will attend school until 1:00 p.m. for this first week and a half.
