Leadership Report

Who can believe we're at the end of the term already? I certainly can't! It feels like only yesterday that we returned to Term 3, kickstarting with a day of mathematics professional learning for staff, followed up by a well attended maths parent workshop the following week. We welcomed our first mid-year intake of Receptions in more years than I care to remember. These new students have settled into school life quickly, supported by current Reception students, which has been wonderful to see.

From a teaching and learning perspective, Term 3 tends to pack a punch. It's when tricky concepts are taught, stretching students to use all of their learning strategies to support them when challenged. Ask your child what they know now that they didn't know before, it's a great conversation starter!

Learning wasn't limited to the students this term, as we held 2 parent workshops. The mathematics face to face workshop and Friendology online webinar were both well received by parents. Keep an eye on communication early next term for details of our final parent workshop for the year, which will focus on reducing anxiety for children.

Term 3 was a BIG term for excursions, incursions, performances and celebrations across the school. We celebrated Book Week as a whole school, along with a fantastic Sports Day last week. We've had excursions to Gorge Wildlife Park, camps to Mylor, GooRoo and Footsteps incursions, and our students have represented in SAPSASA sporting competitions too. Term 3 has certainly not been quiet! No wonder the time has gone so fast, and the holidays are upon us yet again.

Today was a celebration of The Arts at our whole school assembly. Our Year 2, 3 and 4 Choirs sang harmoniously, spreading messages of friendship, and our school band wowed the audience with their skill and ability - they are truly wonderful to listen to. It was also an opportunity to celebrate our school's achievement from the end of last year with a visit from Foodbank CEO Greg Pattinson. Greg presented our school with a Certificate of Recognition and a trophy for collecting the largest food donation across schools in South Australia in 2023. Our whole school donation weighed 747kg, which became equal to 2, 604 meals. What an amazing achievement, something our school community can be extremely proud of. Can we top this in 2024? That's our challenge to you!

In Term 4 we welcome back Mel Workman to the M3 class. She will share the class for the remainder of the year with Parniyan Ilkhani, providing continuity in the classroom.

Finally, as I wish you all a happy and healthy holiday break, I urge you to support our school by voting in the KESAB school video competition. Entries close October 18 - the end of our first week back from holidays. As you set your reminders for Back to School, include one for 'vote for the video'!

You can see our video and vote at the weblink here:

On behalf of the school leadership team, best wishes for the holiday break, no school lunches to think about for 2 whole weeks!

Kind regards,
