We have begun Term 4 with some Halloween-inspired creations! Lots of fun AND lots of learning and exploring new skills!
Year 5&6 have looked at the work of Tim Burton (Beetlejuice, Frankenweenie) & focused on monochromatic shading and detail. These are some of our spooky selfies…
In Year 3&4 we explored value (lightness & darkness) by gradually adding white to our background colour, creating a moody moonlit background. We then added spooky silhouettes using black marker & paint. Here are some of our works in progress…
In Year 2 we have been experimenting with value too, mixing black with with white to paint greys from light to dark, layering patterns on our cat, inspired by Canadian artist Laurel Burch who loves cats! We also cut contrasting flowers out of painted papers:
In Year 1 we drew cute monsters with oil pastel focusing on shape, line & pattern. We gently painted a wash of liquid watercolour over the top, watching the oil pastel resist! We cut & pasted some unique facial features too using contrasting black & white…
In Prep we painted beautiful orange papers focusing on mark-making and texture, then made funny face pumpkins with them, practicing our cutting & gluing skills. We hope you love them as much as we do!
Please keep an eye out for all of our beautiful creations on display around the school in the coming weeks!
