SAC News
A quick note to update you on the activities of the School Advisory Council (SAC).
Overall Daniella and her team have done a remarkable job making progress against the 2024 objectives for the school’s 2024 to 2027 Strategic Plan .
We should recognise that we have an outstanding (and aligned) group of education professionals working with our children, and we benefit from very healthy staff to student ratios. Daniella’s team have all set (and mostly completed) personal professional development goals for the year, leading to real positive impacts on our children’s learning experiences. Our education results as benchmarked against other schools (such as NAPLAN) have been outstanding, and Daniella’s internal benchmarks are ‘green’. Our International Baccalaureate, Eco Warriors and Social Justice Programs are widely recognised as stand out assets for our ‘Little School With A Big Heart’.
We see the positive impact on our children from the school’s nurturing environment and passionate teachers at our regular assemblies, and special events such as the fantastic Art Show and the upcoming Grade 6 Graduation exhibition (in November – highly recommended).
Daniella and the team have done a great job encouraging enrolment for 2025, with very strong demand for Prep. Retention is strong across most year levels.
The SAC’s role is to support Daniella. Upcoming actions include confirming the 2025 school fees where we need to balance the broad cost of living pressures with increases in the operating expenditure of the school, and the need to strengthen reserves for upcoming capital works.
It has been widely reported that State Government funding for school developments has been cut back, and our Master Plan has not been successful in the latest funding round.
We want to push forward and improve our school’s amenity where we can. The SAC is working with Daniella and MACs (Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools) on three near term capital projects – (i) refurbishment of the basketball courts/multi-purpose sports space; (ii) upgrade downstairs teacher and student facilities and (iii) remedial maintenance works.
We have an outstanding gem of a school that needs our shared goodwill, energy, and support to not only thrive for our current generation of students and families but also to honor those who came before us by leaving the school in even better shape for the future. With Daniella, her team, the Parish, and the Parents and Friends, we will be encouraging your collective effort throughout 2025 to achieve some of our very worthwhile objectives.
