HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Spend some time in the holidays with a great read.

Don't forget to try SORA and worldbookonline.

Details below.

LIBRARY BAGS

Holidays are the perfect time to give those tired, well-used library bags and those that have been hiding under beds and in cupboards, a wash and a rest ready for Term 4.

HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES

READ the BOOK and WATCHED the MOVIE:

Fantastic story and a heartwarming storyline.

"Runt" by Craig Silvey is a great read and is being enjoyed by many students at school.

It has just been released as a movie and it's a great holiday activity for the whole family.

TOWN LIBRARY / ART GALLERY

Here are some interesting facts students have discovered about our wonderful town library:

It's free. We can borrow up to 20 books at a time. The books are different to those in our school library so we have the best of both worlds. There is a cake tin library. You can loan out movies and music. The online books are great, so you have a choice of SORA from school or Bolinda and Borrowbox from the town library - car trips will never be boring now.

Go to the link to see what's on in the school holidays.

Our little friend Shrek is still missing from the library. If you have seen him at home please return him straight to the office or ask your child to bring him to the library.

The owner would like him back for the holidays please. See the poster.

Shrek is about 22cm tall and a softish figure.

CHOICE = Motivation

"The strongest positive impact on reading engagement and learning gains come from student self-selection of reading materials. When reading materials are selected for students the links to engagement and learning gain decline significantly."

How Reading Motivation and Engagement Enable Reading Achievement: Policy Implications, Ana Taboada Barber and Susan Lutz Klauda

When students visit the library a huge emphasis is placed on the

premise that they have

 CHOICE

in what they can read and borrow.

LIBRARY BAGS

Please note a LIBRARY BAG is the first item on your child's equipment list for this year.

Thank you for ensuring your child has a library bag. I have some spares and will issue these to students next week who have not yet presented with a bag.

LIBRARY BAGS MATTER...  Not just some of the time but all of the time.

No food or drink on my books.

Food and drink are for the chooks.

Library bags keep ‘em clean.

Books are cool don’t treat ‘em mean.

Bring your bag every time.

Fill it up and get in line.

Have it scanned and scoot on out.

LIBRARY BAGS

We all shout.
