Year 3 Sleepover: A Night of Fun (and Almost No Sleep!)
The much-anticipated Year 3 sleepover was everything the students had hoped for—and more! It all began on Moving-Up Day, when the kids reminded us they missed out on their Kindergarten sleepover due to COVID-19. Eager to make up for it, they asked if they could have one in Year 3, and after some convincing, the teachers agreed!
Excitement filled the air as students arrived, armed with sleeping bags, pillows, and boundless energy. They set up their beds on the classroom floor, ready for 24 hours of fun (and very little sleep). The evening kicked off with games downstairs, followed by a lively dance session.
Later, everyone gathered outside for a movie night under the stars, enjoying 'Despicable Me 4' on a giant inflatable screen, complete with popcorn and ice cream. After the movie, it was time for teeth-brushing and the so-called “bedtime.” The children were thrilled to discover that Mrs. Tyrrell snored!
By 5 a.m., the students were up, waking the teachers to roll up sleeping bags. A breakfast of cheese and bacon rolls and Milo gave everyone the energy for a final play before heading home, leaving behind some very tired but happy teachers. The Year 3 sleepover was a fun-filled experience and the teachers loved creating memories with the students, giving them the sleepover they had long wished for.
DEBATING
This term and last the St Nicholas Stage 3 debating teams have competed in various rounds. This week, the final round was held at St Nicholas. Both teams versed two teams from St Edwards and the students all shared a lunch together.
The topic for this debate was "That the development of artificial intelligence will harm humanity." Both St Nicholas teams were the negative.
Team A (Bailey, Nate, Molly and Sara) unfortunately were not declared the winners, despite putting up very convincing arguments. Team B (Lara, Lily, Mia and Sophia) were awarded the win for their debate.
All members of the debating teams should be incredibly proud of their achievements this year and how far they have progressed in their debating skills.
