Principal Message
As we bring Term 3 to a close, we reflect on a wonderful period of celebration and gratitude for our Year 12 graduating class of 2024. This began with their games night, home group and house farewells, dress-ups, BBQ with staff, and year group and house photographs. We then moved to formal events with our graduation mass celebrated at St Michael’s Cathedral by Fr Sean and Fr Prisanth supported by Deacon John, followed by our prize giving at Kildare in our hall. It all culminated at our Graduation Dinner and Major Prize Givings last Friday night held at the Rage function centre. The list of all awards is noted below.
We wish Year 12 all the best in their preparation for their HSC examinations commencing on 15th October.
The past few weeks have seen great success in a range of areas of college life:
- Senior girls won the CWWHSSA Hockey championships for the first time in 20 years for Kildare.
- Senior Girls choir won all categories they could at the Leeton Eisteddfod
- Girls dance team success at the Wagga Eisteddfod
- Year 7-9 Girls grand finalists in the regional League Tag competition
- Stella Flinn 2nd in the NSWCCC 1500m
- Emily McPherson selected in the Opens NSW All Schools Netball team.
This past few weeks has seen our Year 12’s across many subjects complete major projects which are marked by external NESA markers. If students are lucky they get nominated for NESA showcases. In 2024 we have been successful in achieving six nominations:
- Music - Encore Showcase- Charlotte Fox
- Industrial Technology Timber- Shape Showcase
- Nicholas Anderson
- William Day
- Lily Chisholm
- Mitchell Livermore
- Simon Timothy-Nesbitt
This is an amazing achievement and unprecedented. Well done to our teachers and students on this achievement!
Further to my letter to all parents, students and staff on 16th September (Link to Letter HERE ) can I please ask that you discuss with your daughters and sons the implications of the changes and help them plan ahead. The below graphic shows the changes for discussion very well.
Mrs Christie Scutti returns from her well earned Long Service Leave break on 17th October. On behalf of us all I'd like to thank Mrs Millie Bright for the excellent work she has done over the past six weeks and wish her well as she returns to Mater Dei CC. The seamless move from one person to another has been a credit to her and I know our Leadership Team in particular have greatly valued her contribution. Thanks Millie!
Our staff have yet again worked well above and beyond in support of our students this term. I make the point often to the students to ensure they show and express gratitude to the adults in their lives who support them so well both at school and at home. Our staff are the heart and soul of the college both teaching and non teaching across all areas of our college. On your behalf, I thank them and hope they have a restful and recuperative break over the next two weeks.
Best wishes to all for the holidays. School commences again on 14th October. There is no staff development day to start the term.
