Stephanie Johnston | Alumnae Association President

Dear Alumnae,

Welcome to the latest edition of the Genazzano Alumnae Newsletter! We are thrilled to share exciting updates, upcoming events, and opportunities for you to reconnect with your peers and our vibrant Alumnae community.

Outstanding Alumna Award

We proudly announce that the Outstanding Alumna Award was presented to Associate Professor Doctor Eleanor Flynn, Class of 1965, on Wednesday 4 September. Dr. Flynn has made remarkable contributions to Medicine, particularly in palliative care, aged care, medical education, and spiritual health, alongside numerous published works. Congratulations to Dr Flynn on her well-deserved recognition as our Outstanding Alumna of the Year for 2024.

Careers Insights Evening

We are delighted to launch the Careers Insights Evening, hosted by the Genazzano Alumnae Association. This event is an excellent opportunity for alumnae to be inspired and to connect. Attendees will hear from successful industry leaders and mentors, all proud Genazzano alumnae, sharing their unique career journeys. Additionally, we will introduce the Genazzano FCJ College Alumnae Association Mentoring Program, set to launch in early 2025. If you’re interested in attending the Careers Insights Evening or participating in the 2025 Mentoring Program, please find the details enclosed.

Co-educational Playgroup

We are excited to announce the commencement of the Genazzano FCJ College co-educational Playgroup for Term Four, designed for children aged 0 to 4 years. The Friday morning sessions, facilitated by the College's Early Learning Centre staff, offer a wonderful opportunity for children to learn through play while parents connect with other families in the Genazzano community. There are still some places available.

Gen Day

Please note that due to circumstances beyond our control, Gen Day will no longer be held on Sunday 20 October. The Blessing of the New Building will be on Sunday 17 November at 1.30pm.

Memorial Mass and New Building Opening

The Memorial Mass will take place on 17 November to honour members of the Genazzano community who have passed and celebrate Genazzano’s 135th year.  The Mass will be followed by a light lunch, with the blessing of the new building taking place in the afternoon.

If you have any achievements or stories you'd like to share, please send an email highlighting your news to alumnae@genazzano.vic.edu.au. Celebrating each other's successes can strengthen and help build our Alumnae community.

We look forward to seeing you at these events and celebrating the strength of our community together.

Warm regards,

Stephanie Johnston
