He has presented at the College in previous years and has extensive knowledge and experience in engaging with youth, parents and the community and associated agencies. Constable Downes aims to provide youth information so they can make informed decisions throughout their lives. Year 10 students will be joining the presentation in Period 6 once their VET training day has ceased. Youth Off The Streets is a not-for-profit youth organisation. We work with young people, their families and communities to create safety, offer support and provide opportunities to build a positive future. It is our belief that education is the key to breaking the cycle of disadvantage and poverty that traps so many young people in our communities. Our National Scholarship Program is one of the ways in which we offer young people across Australia an opportunity to achieve their best.
National Scholarship Program
The National Scholarship Program celebrates the talents and strengths of young people across the country who exhibit extraordinary promise but lack the support and resources to reach their education goals.
Every year, over 30 young people are awarded Youth Off The Streets scholarships valued at $6,000 to pursue further education or training and work towards a positive future. In addition, each recipient is matched with a mentor who provides guidance and support during their scholarship.
Scholarship program staff assist the recipients with other challenges they may face such as budgeting expenses, housing, employment, healthcare, counselling and other service referrals.
Who can be nominated? Nominations are invited from any young person in Australia who is aged 16 to 21 inclusive (as of 20 September 2024) with genuine talent, ability and/or determination in any education or training course, including (but not limited to): academic skills; visual or performing arts; sport; trade skills; and music. Further details about eligibility criteria can be found on our website.
Nominations must be made by the young person themselves; however, assistance in completing the nomination is encouraged and is your opportunity to help a young person follow their dreams.
Please visit https://youthoffthestreets.com.au/get-support/national-scholarship-program/ to read the Nomination Guidelines and Conditions and complete a 2024 National Scholarship Program Application Form. Nominations now close at 4 pm on Friday 24 May 2023. No late applications will be accepted. We ask that you please forward this email to your relevant networks, in addition to downloading and displaying this poster, to ensure that all eligible young people have a chance to apply for this great opportunity. For further information, please contact the Scholarships team at scholarships@youthoffthestreets.com.au or phone (02) 9330 3500.
