Welcome!

Its hard to believe that we are already at week 8 of Term 3! It has gone by so fast and the students have had a lovely and rewarding term so far. Take a look through our newsletter to read over important information and dates, and to see what students will be learning in the coming weeks.

Important Dates:

Monday 10th June – King’s Birthday Public Holiday (no students at school)

Monday 17th June – Whole School Assembly

Friday 28th June - last day of term: 2.30pm dismissal

Show and Tell

The teachers would like to remind parents that students should be presenting show and tell each week/fortnight. This is deeply beneficial in improving their confidence when speaking in front of the class and practising to plan what they say when presenting. Please remind your child to bring/organise their show and tell for their given day to present. The list of weekly topics for the remainder of the term are:

Grade 1:

  • Week 9, 10, and 11 are free choice for all students.

Grade 2:

  • Week 8 an 9 - Investigate a game that someone in your family use to play when they were younger.
  • Week 10 and 11 - Bring an old item from the past.

Information report writing

This term Year 1 students have been learning all about how to write an information report and are currently writing about Blue Tongue Lizards. Students were even lucky enough to meet a Blue Tongue Lizard and ask questions to collect information for their report. The students are excited to be able to write all about what they have learnt from their research sessions!

This term Year 2 students have also been learning about information reports and are about to embark on writing a information text on the olden days. They will be collecting research from a number of sources, including their excursion to Mont De Lancey earlier this week. We look forward to seeing student voice and agency during this process with regard to how they present their work. Classes allocate time for students to present their work to the class.

Maths Game - Double Hat-trick

In Year 1 we have been practising to count and order numbers. The students have recently learnt to play the game 'Double Hat-trick' and have been having a great time playing against a partner! If you would like to try this game at home you will need a piece of paper, two different coloured pencils or textas and 2 dice (0-9 sided). Alternatively, you can use a deck of playing cards if you have no dice.
