Year 10, 11 and 12 Career Expo Excursion

On Friday 10 May, Year 10 students, along with Year 11 Essential Math and Year 12 Work Place Practice students, visited the Career Expo at Adelaide Showground. Students spent time exploring different career pathways and engaging in various conversations with career representatives, picking up some fun freebies along the way.

We know this experience will be beneficial to these students as they continue to discover which pathways will help them flourish.

Year 7 Geography Excursion

Earlier this month, two Year 7 Geography classes visited the Urrbrae Wetlands to study the movement and management of our water resources. The Urrbrae Wetlands were constructed with features to help prevent flooding in the area and to remove contaminants like pesticides and litter from the water.

The students tested samples of water taken from different sections of the wetlands, to measure how effectively the site is cleaning the water. They also collected and identified aquatic macroinvertebrates each with different pollution tolerance levels. One group was particularly excited to catch a yabby they named ‘Gabby’, which was evidence that the wetlands are helping to improve the water quality.

Year 7 Drama Circus Elements

The Year 7 Drama class was privileged to learn from Scott Griffin of Circus Elements on Friday of Week 4.

Scott has been working in circus entertainment for over nine years and performs at festivals all around Australia. Scott led the class in learning various juggling techniques, followed by tricks with flower sticks and plate spinning.

His circus tricks enthralled the students, and many picked up new skills quickly. They will use these skills in their upcoming clowning performances.
