Water Safety Week - Student reflections

The Foundation students participated in their Water Safety Education Week from Monday 13 to Friday 17 May at the Marion State Aquatic Center.

During this week, students learnt how to stay safe in the water. Important skills that were introduced included:

  • entering the pool safely
  • calling for help when in trouble
  • learning to float
  • putting their head underwater with confidence.

Students also wore life jackets and learnt they could float in them. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and are most grateful for our efficient and caring parent helpers who supported students and teachers.

The following are some student reflections about their experiences:

Something New

  • I threw a ball into a big tyre. (Anastasia, Iris)
  • I climbed onto a big purple floatie. (Narah, Gabrielle)

Year 6 Camp - Kangaroo Island

In Week 4, our Year 6s enjoyed a wonderful experience at Kangaroo Island.  It was an opportunity to come close to wildlife and nature all whilst building community and comradery with one another.  Students enjoyed a wide variety of experiences including sandboarding, a sea life cruise, close encounters with birds of prey, reptiles and wallabies,  as well as many walks and interactions with different natural environments, including the ever impressive, famous and appropriately named Remarkable Rocks!

Lasting memories and friendships were forged during our special week together.
