Premier's Debating Challenge

In Weeks 9 and 10, the Premier's Debating Challenge teams had their round three debates. This time the teams were split with the 'Opinionated Ones' up against Oatley West Public School and the 'Always Debatable' team battled it out against Jannali Public School. The overarching topic for both debates was 'Responsibilities', which opened up the individual debate topics to many options.

The 'Opinionated Ones' (Zoe, Thomas, Jacob and Harkiran) started the round off at Oatley West Public School debating the topic that 'Children should get paid to do chores'. They took the affirmative side and presented a strong case that emphasised the increased motivation children will have to complete chores when there is a monetary reward. However, the opposing team also presented a convincing case and came away with the win. Well done to the students involved and for always representing Peakhurst in an exceptional manner.

In Week 10, 'Always Debatable' (Willow, Layla, Abbey and Audrey) argued the affirmative side for the topic that 'Parents should provide children with a pet'. They presented five persuasive arguments and rebutted their opponents' case equally as strong. In the end, the team came away with the victory. Congratulations to the students involved.

We look forward to our final round of debating next term where it will be a home town battle between the 'Opinionated Ones' and 'Always Debatable'.
