Launching into Design Thinking through our Kids in Space Program

As you will have read about in Marty's Principal report, we are very excited to officially be a part of the national Kids in Space program, having launched with a two day staff professional development program and having kicked off our work with the Makers Empire software that the year 5/6 students will be utilising to create their design solutions.

You may have also noted that as part of the program, the school now has a new state of the art 3D printer, which will be utilised by students throughout the school across the rest of the school year.

A key part of the program is using the Design Thinking process to guide the students in developing their ideas and solutions.

This process is already in use in our school in many of the classroom inquiry investigations that take place throughout the year. It is a wonderful framework that encourages students to be curious, active and reflective learners.

This will continue to to be a key framework in our classrooms and will particularly drive the students learning in their STEM specialist classes.

We look forward to some inspiring learning and mindblowing creations utilising the remarkable new resources and STEM room we are now so fortunate to have at our school.
