National Simultaneous Storytime

On Wednesday we took part in the National Simultaneous Storytime. This annual event in Australia focuses on highlighting the significance of reading and literacy for young children. The event involves the simultaneous reading of a carefully selected children's book in multiple locations nationwide.

This year, the chosen book was ‘Bowerbird Blues’ written by Aura Paker. This story is about a beautiful bowerbird on the search for blue! It's a moving story of longing and connection, that unfolds as the bowerbird's search sends him soaring across the sea, sky and city. He swoops and snatches vibrant treasures for his collection, and soon his bower, a mix of natural and unnatural objects attracts something greater and more fulfilling than he could ever have imagined.

If your family has some spare time, you might consider listening to this story together and engaging in a discussion.
