This Week At OOPS

Grandparents' Day

2AT, 1/2GA and 2OF enjoyed visits from grandparents today. Linking to our Inquiry unit, 'What stories do people tell about their history?', students wrote and asked questions for our special visitors to answer. Students were able to compare the stories from the past with their own current-day experiences and learnt so much from our guests.

A big thank you to all of the grandparents who gave their time to share with the Old Orchard Community!

Victorian State School Spectacular                Regional Rehearsal

On Tuesday our choir group went to Wattle Park Primary School for their regional rehearsal for the State School Spectacular.

The students enjoyed some fun vocal warmups with conductor Claire and got to sing through many of the songs they will perform at the Spectacular. We are so excited for our next rehearsal at Melbourne Town Hall!

Open Evening

Our Open Evening last Thursday was once again a highlight for both our current students and our wider community.

With a "Spotlight on STEM" there were fun activities happening across all classrooms - flying helicopters, marble runs, magnet races, foil boat floats, twirling helicopters and even microscope viewing!  The Kitchen Garden demonstration was of course very popular along with the lemonade made by the preps.  the Choir performance and instrumental "buskers" around the school provided a fantastic atmosphere.

Magic Show

On Friday we welcomed over 30 kinder kids to a magic show to help celebrate Education Week at Old Orchard Primary.

Thanks Tim the Magician for putting on such an entertaining performance!
