Black Ranges Senior Football

What an amazing day we had at Senior Boys' Football on Thursday 16th May at Horsham City Oval.

Our first game was against Holy Trinity Lutheran College, where our students played a fantastic game, making sure all players were included and had time around the ball. We won this game 41 – 1. Our second game of the day was against Marian College. This was a much more physical game and required the students to set plays through the middle of the ground. Final score was 14-13, with St Brigid's taking the win. Game three was against the Horsham College B team. This was hotly contested right until the end of the match with Horsham College kicking a late goal, taking out the match 21-12. Our final game was against a strong Horsham College A team.

It was wonderful to see the students support each other, especially the students who only play school football once a year. There is some very talented players at St Brigid's College, and we look forward to watching them develop. Thank you to Mr Werner for coaching the team and Tom and Alex for their support.

Cross Country

The sun was shining in Warrnambool for the Greater Western Region Cross Country event yesterday, a nice change from previous years! All of our students had great runs and we congratulate them on their efforts. Well done to Year 10 student , Archie Elliott, who placed 7th and has qualified for the state titles later this year.

Year 7 and 8 Football

Our squad of 20 combined Year 7 and 8 boys had a successful day at the Black Ranges competition at Horsham City Oval. They won their first two games, defeating Holy Trinity Lutheran College 24-0, and Stawell Secondary College 33-6. They then came up against Ararat, winning 39-6 which put them into the grand final where they were defeated 12-40.

Their success throughout the day was due to their ability to come together to represent the College and play for team success. Every player had their moment where they impacted the game, whether it was a tackle, shepherd, or possession.

Some of our key players were Jobe Van Zelst and Joel Plazzer, who headlined our forward line, and Archie Hogan and Charlie Hedt for their ball winning ability and drive through the middle. Jake Ellis was a dominant player in the ruck and Ty Jones provided considerable run off the wing.

Well done!
