Looking Beyond the Pages 

There are so many good books ‘out there’, but we can only look at a few in English class throughout the years of Secondary School. This course offers the opportunity to explore other genres and literature styles that are not always taught in mainstream Literature classes – Mystery; Historical fiction; Graphic novels; Science/Futuristic fiction... Reading and discussion of the texts for literary merit, analysis of authorial intentions and markers of the genre will be addressed in class. 

This class will aim to provide a ‘Book Club vibe’ as opposed to a traditional Literature class and engage both the students who love to read and those who love stories and talking about them.
