Chinese

In Year 9 Chinese elective runs for the whole year (2 elective units) and students build on the foundation laid in Year 7 & 8. Students will learn to express opinions on contemporary media such as music and movies and share information about life including climates and weathers.

Cultural awareness will be developed further through looking at travelling in China, Chinese food and lifestyles. Students continue to develop their understanding of Chinese characters, their formation and usage to form words. Students will also learn to discern differences in patterns of sound and tone in extended Chinese speech when listening to speakers of different age, gender, and regional background.
