Music

Students make and respond to music independently and in small groups. They reflect on the development of traditional and contemporary styles of music and how musicians can be identified through the style of their music. They analyse a range of music from contemporary and past times to explore differing viewpoints, analysis also includes Australian music. Aural and theory concepts are covered where students continue to develop their aural skills and theoretical skills in relation to the pieces they perform as a group and as they build on their understanding and use of concepts of music.

Genres explored are Rock and Roll, Jazz Music and Blues:

• Practice and rehearse to refine a variety of performance repertoire with increasing technical and interpretive skill

• Improvise and arrange music, using aural recognition of texture, dynamics and expression, to manipulate the elements of music to explore personal style in composition and performance.
