German

In Year 9 German elective runs for the whole year (2 elective units) and students build on the foundation laid in Years 7 and 8. They develop strategies for effective communication in German, learning how to respond to others by stating preferences, giving advice, comparing and describing. Topic areas include leisure activities, discussing learning experiences in school, friendships, clothing and celebrations. 

Students learn to use the perfect tense to discuss past actions and learn phrasing for describing a sequence of events and making comparisons. They begin to use gender and case rules for declining adjectives.
