Hello from our students and teachers
Respect, Responsibility and Kindness
Students in Grade 5/6K have been working hard completing assessment over the last few weeks and are also still recovering from our awesome Camp experience at Billabong Ranch. Here are some examples of some awesome learning we have been doing!
We have been investigating fractions, decimals and percentages recently where students have been exploring equivalent fractions and comparing fractions when placing them on a number line. Some students work this out by drawing fraction walls, others are using their knowledge of multiples and factors, whilst some are showing their working out using algorithms.
In writing, we have been exploring Explanations and the types of explanations we read and write about. Students have been investigating Lifecycles by researching and creating their explanation texts.
Some students have been refining their coding skills by creating different interactive games on Scratch. It has been wonderful to see students teach and show each other their skills to support their own development.
Finn: Creating a 'Bad Piggies' platform game where angry birds pig jumps from platform to platform and has to survive.
Henil: Learning to code using scratch by creating characters that move across the screen and coding a collision detector.
Atticus: Creating a Sonic Running Game.
Caskade: Beginning coding characters
Zeke: Creating an adventure game using 'Python coding language' where you have to make a range of character choices.
Pippa and Sage: Creating animations using Canva.
