House Cross Country

Question: What signifies the start of a Hobart winter?

Answer: The St Virgil's College Cross Country Day, of course!

Amidst the wintry blast and challenging conditions that led to the postponement of the Junior School event , the Senior School students tackled the wet and muddy course with great enthusiasm last Thursday.

Congratulations to House Dwyer for winning the overall House Cup for 2025!

The top 10 finishers in each year group will now be offered a spot on Team sVc for the upcoming SSATIS Cross Country Carnival on Wednesday, 21 May.

Well done to all staff and students for their engagement and efforts!

SVC Rowing: A Season of Dedication and Historic Success

The SVC Rowing team has once again showcased the power of unwavering dedication, seamless teamwork, and the early morning grit that transforms aspirations into reality. Throughout Terms 4 and 1, our rowers committed themselves to rigorous training, pushing their limits in a series of competitive regattas that yielded truly spectacular results.

For the fifth consecutive year, SVC proudly hoisted the Junior Aggregate Shield, a testament to the remarkable talent and resilience of our younger rowers. But the excitement didn't end there—this season marked a historic milestone for our school as we also claimed the Overall Aggregate Shield for the very first time, a stunning achievement that highlights the dynamic growth and flourishing success of our rowing program across all age divisions.

In addition, a valiant group of 12 boys represented our College at the prestigious Australian Rowing Championships in March, standing shoulder to shoulder with the nation’s top competitors. Their courage, sportsmanship, and fierce competitive spirit made us all proud, embodying the true essence of SVC.

We concluded the season in style last Friday night at the Saints Rowing Awards Night, a splendid event held in collaboration with St Mary’s College. This occasion was a heartfelt celebration of our athletes' unwavering dedication and a moment to honour the individuals and teams from both College’s, who not only met expectations but soared above them. Congratulations to all our exceptional SVC award recipients!
