District Cross Country Success!

Last Monday, some of our Year 4, 5, and 6 students proudly represented Newlands Primary School at the District Cross Country event. It was a fantastic day filled with energy, determination and team spirit. All of our students gave their very best, showing resilience and perseverance throughout their races. The 9 and 10-year-old students tackled a challenging 2km course, while the 11 and 12-year-olds ran an even tougher 3km course.

It was truly inspiring to see our students pushing themselves, encouraging each other and demonstrating the school values of care and responsibility. Whether they were running, cheering or supporting their peers at the finish line, they showed what it means to be part of the Newlands team.

We are very happy to announce that eight of our students have qualified for the next stage—the Cross Country Division event. This is an outstanding achievement that reflects not only their athletic ability but also their dedication, training and positive attitude. Well done to Isabel, Ramona, Paxton, Reuben, Harvey, Archie, Marlo and Ari.

Participating in events like Cross Country is about more than just physical activity. It builds confidence, resilience and a sense of accomplishment. It also provides students with the opportunity to set goals, work towards them and celebrate both individual and team success. These experiences play an important role in supporting students’ physical and mental wellbeing and helping them feel connected and motivated.

A big thank you to all the parents who came down to the track to volunteer, support and cheer on our students. Your encouragement makes a big difference and helps create such a positive and inclusive sporting environment.

Congratulations to all our runners and best of luck to those heading to Divisions!

¡Vamos Newlands!

Yours faithfully,
