1/2 Specialist Inquiry &

World Enviro Day

For World Environment Day this year, the 1/2s will be creating new indigenous gardens as part of their specialist inquiry program. This will take place on Wednesday 4th June for 1/2EFC, and on Thursday 5th for 1/2ABD.

Can you help?

It would be wonderful to have some family members join us for the planting sessions because we'll need some extra hands to manage everything! We'll just need 2-3 helpers for each class. You can see the session times for each class and sign up here, thanks to Kristy from the Buildings & Grounds for setting this up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C054CAFA82BA2F4CF8-57027124-npsgrade#/

Empty plastic milk & juice bottles needed!

We will need 24 empty plastic bottles for the planting days. Lids aren't necessary but please leave them on if you can. Please leave them in the office.

"Plant It Right" Incursion with Merri Creek Management Committee

To prepare for the planting day, the 1/2s had their second incursion with Dr Angela Foley from the MCMC last week. We learned the process for planting and practised with paper plants to get our planting licences. The students are very excited and are now qualified gardeners!

The "how" and the gratitude

This Landcare Grant-funded project is a big part of the specialist inquiry program this year and has involved support from the Merri Creek Management Committee, our Buildings & Grounds Committee and groundskeeper Rhenny, the Newlands Rain Moth Community Nursery, and of course dozens of families for the ANZAC weekend working bee. We're also grateful for some additional support from the PFA. Thank you everyone!
