Foundation Classroom News

Dear families!

What a busy couple of weeks we have had, lots to learn and lots of fun.

In Literacy, students have been exploring the theme of weather and have absolutely loved becoming little weather reporters! Each day, a student has had the chance to deliver a weather report over the school speaker, sharing what the day looks like outside. As part of our learning, we’ve also been identifying clothes in Spanish, linking them to different types of weather, and learning about the seasons — both the four European seasons and the Indigenous seasonal calendar. It’s been fantastic to see how much the students are remembering and connecting with these ideas.

In Mathematics, this week marks the final sessions of our Tier 2 Maths Intervention program. It’s been a huge success, with students building their confidence in counting and understanding place value. From next week, students will return to their regular maths lessons. In class, we’ve been busy counting up and down, subitising small groups of objects, recognising and ordering numbers, and beginning to work on addition and subtraction strategies. The students have shown wonderful enthusiasm and growth in their skills.

To finish the week with a splash of colour, students participated in their very first Colour Run today — and what a hit it was! There was laughter, cheering, and plenty of colourful powder as everyone raced around the course. Make sure you check out the video linked in this newsletter and ask your child all about their experience — it’s one they won’t forget in a hurry!

Remember that next week we are going on our excursion. Please pack the students a nude food lunch for the excursion. We will send more information this coming week.
