Spanish Club

Spanish Club Monday:
Monday from 3:45 to 4:45. Rob's class.
On the 12 of May the families attending the Spanish Club got the chance to see the process of natural dying wool, the second part of an activity started the previous Monday by Elkin and Alberto. It was a great experience for the kids to observe, also for parents attending too. Some of the colours turned out to be fantastic other a little bit less glamorous. It was a little bit of a process of fail and try but a very enriching experience never the less.
Families had the chance to use the wool to make some embroidery work on burlap while we listen to the music of Violeta Parra. It was a very wholesome session where families got the chance to chat between each other in Spanish and English too.
It was a great experience for kids to interconnect with school peers from different classes.
On the 19 of May the families attending the Spanish Club learned from Venny about clay and where it is possible to be found.
They had the chance to touch and play with clay that Venny got from the creek which has a lot of sand in it, as well with clay specially to be work with. Families work together to mould some chapes and beautiful bowls were created that day. Again, it was a great opportunity for carers and children to get to know each other a little bit better.
The Spanish Club is a space open to the whole school community and not just for the Spanish speaking one.
The activities are usually explained in both languages. The activities are intended to show a little bit about different traditions and games from the Spanish speaking world in an attempt to interconnect with our Australian community.
It is a great space for carers and parents who are not from and Hispanic background to learn some words in Spanish and for those who are learning Spanish in different platforms like Duolingo a very friendly space to practice it.
This Monday, 26th May, students will be learning about different birds in Chile, as well as creating bird masks.
Nos vemos.
