Senior and Junior Hoop Time Basketball Competitions
Please take note of the information regarding our Senior Hoop Time and Junior Hoop Time competition below:
Competition | Who is involved | Date | Venue |
Senior Hoop Time | All Year 5 & 6 students | Friday 6th June | Dandenong Basketball Stadium |
Junior Hoop Time | All Year 4 students | Friday 13th June | State Basketball Centre |
For 2025, our school will be joining in the Basketball Victoria Junior (Year 4 students) and Senior (Year 5/6 students) Hoop Time inter school competition. These Hoop Time opportunities are designed to celebrate and apply the skills learnt with the P.E. unit of basketball. Within these basketball lessons, students will be taught about offensive movement, passing, ball handling, shooting, defensive pressure, teamwork, sportsmanship and understanding game play and rules within basketball. From these lessons, students are provided the opportunity to apply these skills to competitive basketball matches against other schools within the Hoop Time competition.
All students will participate on the day in a team. They will be placed in a team suitable to their skill level either in one of the three competition levels: Allstars, Future Stars and Rookies. In their team, they will compete and apply their skills against other schools in a round robin competition.
Each team will consist of an ample number of students so students can get a good amount of time on the court to play and compete for our school.
Parents will receive an Operoo permission form to sign stating if their child has made the basketball team for the Junior Hoop Time competition. We are in need of support with parents as coaches and scorers on the day so we hope to get as many parent helpers as possible for our many teams representing St Simon. Please reply within the Operoo form if you are able to support our teams, no experience is required.
