On Thursday 22 May, our Unit 3 Geography class had an amazing day on our excursion to Burwood Brickworks! The weather decided to be kind (finally!) and gave us the perfect day to get out of the classroom and onto the field!
Our focus was investigating the socio-economic and environmental impacts of land use change at Brickworks. It was a fun and hands on way of exploring our learning.
We gathered information from the local business owners and community members about their experience on the land use change at Burwood Brickworks. It was insightful to see the land use and sustainability at the world’s most sustainable shopping centre.
We headed over to Burwood Heights later in the day to compare our data from Brickworks. To top it all off, we had the chance to hear from one of the developers behind the Brickworks project. He shared lots of interesting information about the site's transformation and what goes into making a sustainable, community friendly space. All in all, it was an awesome day filled with learning, laughter, and Ben and Jerry’s! It was a great opportunity to bond with peers whilst collecting information to help with our upcoming SAC!
