Exciting News: Our Court’s Getting an All-Star Makeover!
Get ready to shoot some hoops on a court that would make Michael Jordan and Liz Ellis jealous. Starting September 23rd, while the kids and staff are enjoying well deserved holidays, our basketball court will be undergoing a slam-dunk of a renovation. Completed by Showcourt Services it’s hoped to be finished by the time our community walks through the gates in Term 4.
What’s coming? A court that’s levelled and resurfaced with a slick, grippy surface that’s perfect for those fast breaks. We’re also adding brand new lines for both netball and basketball games, plus three down ball courts to house all the “yo-yo, mountain and under the bridge” moves!
Funding for this project was made possible by surplus funds from previous large scale capital work budgets, like the STELLA building project. The school received the green light from the Department of Education to use this surplus late last year. As a long-term priority for successive School Councils and Building and Grounds Committees, a big thanks must go to both, with a special thanks to Paul Broadhurst and his 2023 team who championed this forward and to Audrie Sexton McGuire for all her super star coordination efforts.
And my planned joke for a LOL:
Why are spiders great at basketball?
Because they are eight-footers!
Thanks,
Sara
