Visual Arts

Mara Howlett

This term in Visual Arts, we have been working with clay and exposing students to tools and techniques to support them with sculpting their clay into the desired form. The theme for our clay this term was sea animals. Students could choose to make a starfish, crab, turtle, whale, or octopus. Some students also enjoyed playing with the clay for the sensory input.

This term, we were invited to make scarecrows for the Kitchen Garden at Government House! Students made their scarecrows with Chris in Healthy Planet, Healthy Me. In Art, each cohort designed a T-shirt for their scarecrow to wear. Some of our students helped to take one of our scarecrows to Government House in Melbourne, where they met the Governor. Well done everyone for your engagement this term!

In August, the penguins that our Middle and Secondary students painted in Term 2 were displayed in the Australian Antarctic Festival! The penguins enjoyed their trip to Hobart and are now safely back at school. Well done everyone for your engagement this term! I hope you enjoy your break.
