From the Year 1 Classroom
As we approach the end of Term 3 we just want to say how proud we are of our little super stars in Grade 1. We have seen the children show great growth with their learning and developing in maturity socially and emotionally.
In Literacy, we have been looking at the genre of Persuasion. We have enjoyed reading books exposing us to different persuasive techniques and the children have done a super job at recognising the difference between fact and opinion. They have amazed us with their ability to state an opinion and give reasons to support their argument. We are sure you see their persuasive skills in action when it comes to things like bedtime, not eating their veggies and the other daily battles that happen at home. The joys!
In Mathematics, the children have enthusiastically participated in activities related to days of the week, months of the year, time and looking at calendars. They have really enjoyed these practical Maths activities relating to their everyday life.
In Religion, the children have been very respectful when looking at our topic of ‘Our Call to Mission’ and how we help people in need. This week we look forward to welcoming a representative from St Vincent's to share with us about his role and how he helps people in our community.
Today we enjoyed our annual Family Breakfast. This is a great day on our school calendar where we have the opportunity to gather as a school community. Parents and Students were able to wear something yellow or something that makes you feel good, to our Sacred Heart Breakfast in recognition of R U OK? Day. In the afternoon the children will participated in an activity to talk about this topic.
On Friday 13th of September, we have our Athletics Carnival. Parents and Spectators are most welcome to attend and there will be a coffee cart available. Mr O’Dwyer has put in a lot of effort to prepare the children for their events and ensure it will be a great day.
Thank you for all your support throughout the term and we wish everyone a safe break enjoying the Spring weather before we head into our final term of Grade 1. We really don’t want to even think about saying goodbye to this beautiful group of children.
