From the Year 6 Classroom

In Literacy, the students have begun a Persuasive Writing unit, selecting a social issue that they are passionate about, developing a series of arguments to support their stance surrounding their chosen issue.

In Numeracy, the students have been engaging in hands-on experiments, learning about volume and capacity. They have used measuring cups and containers, to pour and compare liquids, observing how different shapes and sizes affect how much each container holds. Through measuring, pouring, and calculating, the students have discovered the principles of volume and capacity in a tangible, interactive way.

In other news, the students had the pleasure of developing their drawing skills, from visiting author Lucinda Gifford. She talked about how she gets ideas for her books and the process of illustrating them. Lucinda shared funny and insightful stories about her creative journey, from overcoming challenges to the joy of seeing her work in print.
