From the Year 5 Classroom

It’s hard to believe that Term 3 has nearly come to an end. We’re so proud of everything the students have achieved this Term. Term 4 will also be a busy and exciting Term, as students prepare for Year 6 leadership roles, meet their Buddies and participate in the end of year Christmas concert and excursions.

Last week, the Year 5 students participated in Book Clubs. We were impressed by their respectful engagement and thoughtful contributions to the discussions surrounding their texts. Be sure to check in with your child and ask them about their Book Club text.

The Year 5 students have enjoyed the opportunity to design an original product. Some examples include a new line of footwear, a fast food chains, beverages, and toys. They have incorporated their knowledge of how advertisers influence and persuade an audience through various techniques.

In Numeracy, we are focusing on the skills of estimating, constructing, and measuring angles. Students have learned to classify angles in five distinct ways: acute, right, obtuse, straight, and reflex.

We enjoyed seeing lots of you at our annual family breakfast this morning. It was so nice to see students wearing yellow or something that makes them feel good, to celebrate RUOK day.

Excitement is building for the upcoming Athletics Day this Friday. The students have been diligently preparing during PE lessons, lunchtime, and Running Club. Please check your emails for further details.
