Dear Parents and Carers,
In response to the recent Insights Report produced by Dr Phil Cummins, along with feedback from our most recent parent forum, and as part of our ongoing commitment to improve our delivery of Flipped Mondays, we are seeking two parent representatives to join our Flipped Monday Steering Committee at Chevalier College. This Committee will commence its work in Term 4 and play a vital role in providing guidance, oversight and strategic direction to enhance our students' Flipped Monday learning experience.
The Role of the Steering Committee:
The Steering Committee will work closely with staff and students to ensure that the objectives of the Flipped Monday initiative — receiving, accessing and completing surface-level learning in optimal environments — are met. We are looking for two parent representatives to join the teachers and 5 - 8 students, who can offer valuable perspectives and contribute to the overall success of this initiative.
Your Role as a Parent Representative:
The Steering Committee will help ensure that our students are learning in comfortable, quiet spaces and are progressing through the content provided on the day.
If you are interested in nominating yourself for this important role, please submit your Expression of Interest by Monday 14 October, outlining in 250 words or less why you are interested and what you can bring to the role.
To submit an Expression of Interest (EOI), or for more information, please contact Katie Hammond via hammondk@chevalier.nsw.edu.au.
EOIs close Monday 14 October.
We look forward to working together to continue enhancing our students' learning experience.
Greg Miller
Principal

Our staff also participate in this special event and the Main Office and Student Services will be closed from 9.00am to 11.00am. Phones will go to voicemail and messages will be replied to after 11.00am.
Students will not not be able to arrive late (after home room) or leave early between 9.00am and 10.45am. If students have appointments they should plan to arrive after 11.00am.

On Monday 9th September Year 12’s were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work with Kirstene from MyDesign participating in a Careers workshop.
One student reflected on the valuable experience as follows:
As a year 12 student about to be thrown out into the world with limited idea of my true aspirations, strengths, and motivators. How are we supposed to get an idea of what to work towards when we don’t even know what we do best at but also what drives us. The MyDesign Careers workshop was an extremely beneficial use of time as it made me sit down with myself and really unravel how to move forward towards my uncertain future. I have never had a chance to be guided through a deep analysis of my strengths. Now having a more thorough understanding about myself I am now able to confidently answer job or university interview questions when some may find it hard as well as knowing what comes naturally to me that I will be able to unlock for future jobs and study. Having someone so passionate like KC made the workshop so much more fulfilling. To be able to hear her talk about her own experiences of finding a job she loves influenced myself and my fellow classmates who attended to seek out how to positively impact society while also living a meaningful life. After speaking with those who also attended this workshop, we came to the conclusion that we are all so much closer to understanding ourselves and how we want to move forward in the future. Phoebe L
MyDesign are offering the opportunity for further engagement in this area which would be beneficial for all Year 11 and 12 students. Please see the flyer below for further information.

The first step is to give the school with permission through the Parent Lounge. The second step is registration with the venue. This can be completed by clicking the link in the permission note. Please contact Sandy Abbey if you have any questions.
Each year Harbison represents Australia in an international virtual cycling competition for older people and people living with dementia, known as Road Worlds for Seniors. This year, the Harbison ‘Slow Speed Demons’ are expected to form a team of more than 100 resident-champions of varying abilities and are seeking volunteers to assist.
Harbison would love to see our students get involved by riding additional stationary bikes alongside residents. There are morning and afternoon spots available during the second week of the holidays for students who would like to volunteer their time to this important cause. Please contact Sandy Abbey if you would like to take part.
The Chevalier Day Mass will be celebrated on Friday 25th October in the JFC at 9.00am. Families and past students are warmly invited to attend and celebrate this occasion with the college community.
