Middle Learning News

Hello families,

As the end of the term approaches, we begin to finalise many of our learning units.

Last week, we dedicated our time to celebrate the incredible qualities of our fathers and other inspirational men in our lives. The students crafted poems to express their admiration and appreciation.

We hope you enjoyed reading their heartfelt creations!

Students are finalising their final narrative writing piece this week. The draft of this work will be uploaded as part of an ongoing assessment, showcasing the wonderful progress your child has made.

Ongoing assessments are a valuable way to keep you connected with your child’s learning journey. You can access these assessments through the Parent Access Module. I will notify you once they are available for viewing. Should you need assistance in locating these assessments, please feel free to reach out. In the coming weeks, we will also upload assessments for literacy, mathematics and religion.

Multiplication in Real Life

Over the past fortnight, students have been exploring how multiplication applies to real-life situations. They’ve connected multiplication to activities like shopping when calculating the total cost when buying multiple identical items.

Students have also practised using concrete materials to represent multiplication and division by grouping items into equal parts. They’ve been working with arrays and exploring repeated addition and subtraction to deepen their understanding.

Many students are improving their instant recall of multiplication facts for 2s, 3s, 4s, and 5s.

Religion

During our religion, we are creating our own version of the Bible, titled The Good News. Students have contributed their personal explanations and provided relevant examples to illustrate their understanding.

LSO APPRECIATION WEEK

This week, we’re celebrating and giving thanks to our incredible Learning Support Officers (LSOs!)

In our 2/3 space, we’re fortunate to have Sam, Macey and James working with us throughout the week, either supporting the entire class or working one-on-one with students. We deeply appreciate all the 'little' tasks they handle, which make a huge difference in our daily learning environment.

We celebrated Maysie's focus day last week with some arts and craft and a game outside.

Noah's day involved bringing in his very cute pup Marley! Along with some games outside.

Thank you and awesome effort to Liam, Hunter, Mahveen, Ruby, Maison and Arielle for their readings at Mass on Friday.

Have a beautiful weekend everyone!
