Winter sport wind-up!
As another term comes to close, so we celebrate another successful winter sport season with our wind-up events held over the weekend.
The Great Southern Griffins Sports Club continues to go from strength to strength and is a continual reminder of the importance of an active life alongside others. Equally, it is a reminder of the unique partnership that exists between GSG and the broader Great Southern community.
In my time as an educator, I have never witnessed a school successfully establish a community-based sporting club where students and community members are equally represented. Across five sports, 800 members fly the Griffins flag throughout the summer and winter seasons.
This season we have witnessed the majority of teams in Hockey, Netball, Soccer and Volleyball make finals in both student and adult teams.
Congratulations to Hockey 5/6 Mixed, Hockey 10/11/12 Blue Girls, Hockey 10/11/12 Boys, Soccer Under 12s, and Netball 7 teams for winning their grand finals.
A special vote of thanks to Mr Tom Moir for his continued passion and leadership of Great Southern Griffins Sport Club as President. He is the Griffins number one champion and advocate.
Also, a thank you goes to our club chairs and committees for their incredible commitment. I would like to recognise Mrs Brooke Pearson, Mr Carl Mueller, Mr Nathan Symonds and Mrs Rebecca Stephens for their tireless work to give all students and community members the opportunity to represent such a wonderful club.
Finally, a thank you to Mrs Karen Fergie, Administrator, and the players who have represented the Griffins with pride, determination, perseverance and upholding our sacred values.
Go Griffins!
