SENIOR SCHOOL REPORT
As we draw to the close of Term 3, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the collective efforts and achievements of our school community. This term has been marked by significant milestones, hard work, and remarkable accomplishments across Years 10 to 12.
First and foremost, a heartfelt congratulations to our Year 11 and 12 students who have been diligently completing their School Assessed Coursework (SACs). Their dedication and perseverance during this critical period has been truly commendable.
As we look ahead to the VCE Unit 3&4 trial exams scheduled during the second week of the holidays, I know our students will continue to diligently prepare for their exams which commence shortly after the break. Completing practice exams is essential for effective exam preparation, as it helps students familiarise themselves with the format, timing, and types of questions they will encounter in the actual exam. By simulating real exam conditions, practice exams allow students to identify areas for improvement, work on time management, and reduce exam anxiety. Students can access a copy of the schedule via Compass Newsfeed. Students are expected to be in full school uniform and should familiarise themselves with the exam conditions for each subject, by reading over the VCAA exam navigator.
A special mention must go to our Vocational Major students who delivered outstanding presentations to parents and staff last Thursday night. These presentations, which were the culmination of their Work Related Skills (WRS) subject, beautifully captured their life journeys and future plans. Their stories were inspiring, and it was a privilege to witness their growth and aspirations.
As some of our Year 12 students begin to leave Parkdale Secondary College and embark on their next steps, we look forward to farewelling them all at their final whole school assembly on Friday, 18th October. This will be followed by the formal farewell at our Valedictory Dinner on Thursday, 21st November. Tickets for Year 12 students and their parents can be purchased via the provided link until Tuesday, 8th October.
We also celebrate the fantastic achievements of our sports teams. Our Intermediate Boys Soccer team and Senior Girls Netball team displayed exceptional talent and sportsmanship at the State Championships. Well done!
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our Year 10 students for their positive involvement in Koorie Day. Their participation in this event, which celebrates Indigenous culture, was instrumental in making it a success.
Our Year 10 Vocational class recently competed a very successful event in support of Toilet Twinning. This event was a triumph due to the collective effort of the entire class. Their commitment to such a meaningful cause truly embodied the spirit of our school community, raising over $450 and funding four projects that will teach communities about hygiene whilst also supplying sustainable resources for families to build their own toilets. Thank you to the staff who supported this event, particularly Ms. Wilson and Mr Austin.
As we head into the holiday break, I encourage everyone to take this time to rest and recharge. I encourage our students to reflect on the progress they have made this term and prepare for the exciting challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in Term 4.
