Principal's Report

Dear HPS Community,

It has been another busy week at HPS with a highlight certainly being the Footy & Sports Day held yesterday. It was fabulous to feel the spirit and excitement around the school and to see the joy from students while participating in the events organised by Mr Griffiths. The energy was still high at the end of the day when we had the annual parade to show of and cheer for all the teams and sports that were represented by the students and staff. Well done to everyone for contributing to a fabulously fun day! Go Bombers ;-)

I wish to send a big thank you to Eric Guo who has been our specialist ICT technician at Heidelberg for the past year. Eric has accepted a position in another sector where he will be able to utilise his specialist skills and passion for security and data security. We wish you all the best for the future Eric.

I would also like to share a big thank you to our maintenance and gardening staff, Tim and Dave, for keeping the grounds of our school safe and looking so beautiful. Many parents and people who visit comment on the lovely, well maintained gardens. Spring certainly has offered something spectacular for us to see and smell.

Retaining Wall- Rosanna Road

From mid October, the retaining wall of the school along Rosanna Road is going to be replaced. This is something the school council have been working on with the VSBA for the last year and a half. These works will not cause any disruption to our school operations and grounds, however will reduce access on Rosanna Road to one lane for much of the day. We will provide further information and updates as we receive them.

Planning for 2025

I cannot believe we are at the time of the year where planning for the next year needs to begin, but here we are!

Our building works will begin in January and whilst there will be some short term impacts on school operations such as available classroom spaces and play spaces, storage options whilst the build takes place, car parking options etc, it will be for the long term gain as we welcome a beautifully integrated new learning spaces and a fabulously functional new gymnasium. It really is an exciting time and we are working with the architects and the department to carefully plan and consider things for a smooth transition.

We will share plans and considerations for use of play spaces and such next term.

Workforce planning and the development of cohesive and effective teaching teams and staffing structures as well as location of classes for next year are also in the pipeline at the moment.

It is a busy time of the year and sometimes I have to remind myself we are still in 2024 as I often have my brain in 2025!

Stay tuned for further info next term.

Don't forget school will finish at 2.30pm next Friday!
