CHILD SAFETY NEWS: NATIONAL CHILD PROTECTION WEEK 1-7 SEPTEMBER 2024

This week was National Child Protection Week (NCPW). NCPW advocates for Child Safety through education and awareness. In preparation for this week, during the term students from all grades have designed posters to share their own voice for this year’s theme:

 ‘Every Conversation Matters.’

These beautiful posters are displayed at entryways to school, and we encourage you to come and take a look at what our students have to say about speaking up for themselves and their safety.

Throughout NCPW, students participated in activities to encourage conversations between their peers and teachers. One of the best ways to ensure your child’s safety is to talk with them often about what they are thinking or feeling, and teaching them ways to respond when they feel unsafe. Students have recently had a big focus on respecting others’ body boundaries, and practising ways to say ‘no’ or speak up when they need to.

Here are some pictures of a whole school Scavenger Hunt students completed to encourage conversations in a fun and inclusive way.

We hope this week has been a great opportunity for the children to be empowered to become more aware of their safety, and to have developed some useful skills and knowledge for the future!
